We offer a full service when buying a home.

Our solicitors will guide you through the process and :

  1. Advise you about what you need to do including arranging funding for your purchase and arranging an inspection or survey of the property.
  2. Submit appropriate searches e.g. local search, water and drainage search, environmental search etc.
  3. Check the contract bundle and search results and raise any enquiries of the seller's solicitors.
  4. Prepare a 'Property Report' for you summarising the property you are buying and the results of searches and enquiries.
  5. Discuss and arrange exchange of contracts, fix a completion or moving date, make payment for the property and deal with stamp duty land tax and land registry requirements.


The usual timescale to sell and buy a property is approximately 8 weeks from the time you agree a purchase until you move into the property. If there is a chain of sales and purchases linked together it can take a further 4 - 8 weeks. This timescale is a rough guide only.

Documents you sign

  • Contract (also referred to as the 'Agreement') - this is signed before 'exchange'.
  • Transfer Deed - this is signed before or after 'completion'.
  • Stamp Duty Land Tax Form - this is signed before or after 'completion'.
  • Mortgage Deed - this is signed before 'completion'.
  • If the property is a flat/leasehold property there may be other documents to sign e.g. a Management Company Deed of Covenant.
